The Reserve Iliad label is reserved for those wines which show exceptional character and finesse. The grapes for this wine were hand selected and picked from the Kawitiri vineyard in Gisborne late March. The grapes were then whole bunch pressed and fermented with indigenous yeast strains in predominantly new tight-grained French oak barriques.

This wine has aromas of peach, melon and grapefruit with just a hint of butterscotch. These characters are complemented by the French oaks. The intense fruit and fine oak characters follow through onto the palate, which has a delightfully creamy texture, due to a partial malo-lactic fermentation. The wine exhibits a subtle integration of fruit and oak and has great weight with fine structure and balance.
